The New Women of the Roaring Twenties
Fashion was and still always reflecting the values of its time, but the decade of twenties was a crucial period that caracterized women changes. Women fought for their freedom, rights, and for re-evaluate the old traditions. The fundamental changes of fashion occured in that era reflected women roles and behavior. Women were changing dramatically as they started changing their lifestyle and their look by changing their fashion trends and haistyles.
Fashion Before 1920`s
Women's Fashion changed drastically during the 1920s with the changing role of women in society. Women librated themselves with fashion. Expressing freedom and change in attitude. Before the 20s, women wore very heavy uncomfortable clothing as long dresses and heavy Edwardian. Women were not allowed to show their ankles or legs. By contrast, in the 1920’s women started shifting their fashion and they were proud of showing off their skin and they emphasized on their sex appeal. They stopped pushing up their breasts by wearing the tight corsets and they started taping down their breast and loosing their waistlines as they wanted to look flat.

The fashionable fashion of women in the 1920's. The clothing changed drastically; it became more comfortable , shorter, lighter and showed a little skin. Fashion in the 20s was all about elegance and glamor. It introduced a variety of exciting and comfortable way a woman could dress.Women dressed beautifully in very simple elegant dresses that were very colorful, lighter and more comfortable . They also coordinated their dresses with accessories like shoes, hats, jewelery, handbags and more. The new type of short clothing gave the opportunity to many women to have new dress or skirt because it was affordable for everyone and it was a great deal faster and easier for women to home sew their own clothing and dress fashionable as any other women from any different social class.
Flappers Fashion
Flappers of the 1920`s was women rebellion which caracterized the drastic changes of women roles, they gave freedom to most women all over the United States.Women left their conservative looks and they had been shifted by having a crazy short hairstyles, wearing a lot of makeup, and wearing clothes that considered inappropriate and out of ordinary such as short skirts, and dresses showed knees.Flappers wanted to do everything that men do, they attended night clubs, listened to jazz music, and dance very provocatively. Many women viewed their sex more casually and they were dating whoever they wanted.

1920`s Hairstyles
Hairstyles was one of most contoversial changes of the 1920`s .It was a trend for short hair and for the first time women were looking more masculine.Women changed the hairstyle that was before when they were having a long hair usually swept up with combs or worn with hairnets to keep their curls. Women created various new styles that they thought it represented much more their beauty and define their new identities. Famous haircuts took place in that era; first the bobbed hair , then shingled, wavy, earphone, Eton cropped, and chignon for those who wanted to keep their hair long.
Bob was the first famous hairstyle of the twenties, it was a short haircut that was straight around the head leveled by the position of the ears. Bobbing hairstyle began during the World War when women were cutting their hair for reasons of sanitation while they were driving ambulances.
Shingle or "boyish" originated of bob haircut tapered into V shape on the neck with creating spit curls or waves at the sides.
Finger waving was the art of designing waves with hair while it is wet using the fingers and hair lotion.

Hats played an important role in showing the radical change of women fashion in the 20`s. the milliners were creative and by using their imagination they collected many fashion aspects over different nations to desighn the best clothings and hats.The first and dominant style was cloche hat that was a small and round hats which cover most of the head and worn low on the brow. it was widely used for long harstyles. By time, it became tighter to the head and more narrowed. Cloche hats were mass produced because they were easy to form and shape. Various couture houses were working on manufacturing hats that had similar designs as their clothings.

During the of 20`s , make-up saw a massive change and became more fashionable especially with the appearance of flappers look who broke the traditional obstacles and came up with new customs. Before the twenties, it was not appropriate for young women to wear make up and if worn it should be muted in color. The 20`s women revolution brought with it a mass production of cosmetics such asRed lipstick, Dark kohl eyes, and Red nail polish. Max Factor Sr, Elizabeth Arden, Helena Rubinstein and Coco Chanel were the first who developed cosmetics and make it global mass market.
The changes in attitudes and fashion made the makeup socially acceptable to be worn by young women. Colours became more natural and representative for women beauty which was hidden by the muted ivories.

20`s Eyes and lips
The eye make up became dark by covering the eyelids with a heavy dark eyeshadow, applied kohl all around the eye, and styled with mascara. In the other hand, women gave a big importance for lips as a part of the make up. The most available color during the early 1920`s was red lipstick but it was not applied right into the corners of the mouth. However, women started applying lipsticks into the corners with lining their lips by liquid rouge to trace the shape of their lips and gave them more effects and beauty.
